ERIC GAVIN / 6ft 2 Girls CD. Singsong Records SR001 POVERTY LINE features the great saxophonist, Raph Ravenscroft, who immortalised Gerry Rafferty's "Baker St" in combination with the top producer, Stephen Lipson, (Annie Lennox/Sting/ Cher/Whitney Houston/Paul McCartney/Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Simple Minds). Eric was signed to Atlantic Records (WEA) and continued writing having moved to Santa Barbara, California. There he worked with Jim Messina, (Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina), and then as a sound engineer for two years for various bands. He then returned to Suffolk, where he is now based, to record many further songs, some of which are featured on this album. These are all influenced by Eric's tendency to travel widely around Europe, the West Indies, Mexico and the States. The songs deal with metaphysical topics of relationships and socio-economical problems. Many great players have collaborated as friends. Playing live, Eric tends to favour the Martin D28 Guitar and Stomp/Reggae rhythms picked up from playing impromptu in bars and Greek Island fishing ports. In the studio other instruments influence, but the Sax, Piano, and Bass, are a good combination that complement his voice and lyrics. He is presently mixing his Country album and works from his own studio near Sudbury, Suffolk, England, where he lives with his Danish wife and two children. His musical influences stated as being, David Lindley/John Martyn/Jackson Browne/Toots and the Maytals/John Hiatt/Paul Brady/Steve Earle, Tony Rich, and Steve Forbert.
As well as producing many bands, (The Alarm/Blu Blud/The Runs/
Back to Basics....), he occupies himself by writing short
